It has been so long since I visited my blog. No excuses except life has been crazy! Maybe a little crazier than normal. That and I'd blog daily if only I could do it from my phone or iPad! Seems that I'm on those devices so much more than my computer.
Since my last post, so much and then nothing at all has happened. We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and other specials days. We were delighted with two visits this year from Landen and Raleigh, two of our grandchildren. They spent spring break with us and also came back in June for two weeks of Camp Tweet (I'm Tweet!). I'm counting down the days until I get to join the two of them and their parents at the beach. Dread the drive but can hardly wait to spend time with them and eat fresh seafood!
Mom and Daddy are still living in Ohio (much to Daddy's dismay) but in a new location. They, with their pup Lily, moved to an independent living apartment at Otterbein Senior Living Community July 3rd. This living situation includes options for all levels of care from independent, assisted living, memory care, to skilled living. Plus, there are more activities to participate in than you can shake a stick at! There are all kinds of craft studios/classes, church groups, a library, games, a movie theater, salon, restaurants, etc. Plus, the residents in their building get together regularly. It's
a great place for my social butterfly mother. It's smaller than their previous place which I think is the only drawback. It would be a little nicer to have a tad more space but it is definitely adequate. I am starting the clean-out process on their condo to get it on the market ASAP. There's a lot of stuff so I'm aiming for September sometime.
I dug out the paintbrushes and watercolors and am attempting to make myself practice regularly. I did Daily Smalls for the month of June and it was fun! I intended to do them again for July but moving Mom and Daddy and everything associated with that has kind of altered that plan. I took an acrylic paint pouring class and had a blast! Landen and Raleigh poured three paintings each when they were here and had so much fun! I also learned how to do Zen Doodles and find that very meditative and relaxing.
I'm still knitting but everything - even knitting believe it or not - has taken a backseat to getting Mom and Daddy settled. Lots and lots of projects waiting in the wings so need to get back to the needles soon.
The flower gardens were sorely neglected last year due to Mom's frequent and lengthy hospitalizations. Taming them this year was a job! We laid down three heaping pick-up trucks full of mulch. We had a lot of rain this spring and then this awful heat but the flowers still look pretty good.
Well, I need to get going to start cleaning out for the day. So much stuff to go through! A lifetime's worth of precious and important things!
Hope to see you again soon and thanks for popping in to read For The Love Of Fiber!
