This will be my last Sauder Village Rug Hooking Exhibit post. Time to move on to fall happenings.
Susan Feller displayed her extraordinary year-long project at Sauder. Well, only a portion of it as the whole 365 days would have been a bit much and it's still in progress
Susan planned and executed one hooking/fiber square per day for 365 days. I believe the project is still ongoing and
nearing completion. The squares will be for sale. I don't think I could part with them. What an intensive study and process. A definite labor of love.
On display was her notebook showing her plans for each square/day.
She also exhibited self-portraits which were fabulous! Looked exactly like her and I love that she added the necklace and wool applique. Great mixed media! Amazing what can be done with wool!
There was so much inspiration in that one rug hooking exhibit. So much talent and skill on display. It does a creative soul good to attend an exhibit - be it one of wool, clay, paint, etc. Seeing other artists' work stirs those creative juices and gets them flowing again.
Looking forward to next August and working on my rug that I'll submit for display!

Yesterday, Mom, Jane, and I went to A Wool Gathering at Young's Dairy in Yellow Springs, OH. Then, we went to Wartinger Park's Heritage Day where our rug hooking group was demonstrating. I forgot my phone so wasn't able to take any pictures. The humongous field of sunflowers that is usually in bloom during this Wool Gathering weekend was not.
The flowers looked as if they hadn't bloomed yet. They must be late this year. I was so disappointed because I really wanted Jane, who just moved to Ohio three weeks ago, to see them. Here's a picture from last year of the field and one of Mom and me. Maybe I'll drive up that way in a week or two to see if they're blooming!!!! Love sunflowers!
