As I write this, my mother is spending her sixth night in the hospital. She has a GI bleed and was admitted last Thursday with a very low hemoglobin. This was causing her to be extremely weak and short of breath. Since her admission, she has been put through the wringer of tests to try to locate the source. So far, everything has been inconclusive. Today, she swallowed a capsule with a teeny-weeny camera inside. The camera will take pictures of the intestinal tract and, hopefully, will find the source. We'll know tomorrow after the pictures are read by the doctor.
The days and nights are very long when you're a patient in the hospital. Time seems to crawl by - taking the scenic route from hour to hour. And, I think one of the worst things about having something wrong with you is not knowing what it is. If you know, you can start developing your game plan / your plan of attack. Not knowing allows your mind to go down dark alleys where the worst scenarios reside.
Here's hoping that tomorrow will bring some answers!
These flowers are for you, Mom! Get well soon!
