Today is Mother's Day and I hope each of you that nurtures children, pets, etc. is having a very wonderful day! It has been a beautiful day here in Southwest Ohio with a couple of late day rain showers. This was the first Mother's Day I've been able to spend with my mother since 2009. I'm so fortunate to still have her with me as many of my friends have lost their mothers. And, to have her just twenty minutes away is a blessing, indeed.
I was greeted this morning with a card with a day-spa gift certificate in it from Andy. I can hardly wait to use it! We also saw something at Grandma's Gardens that I just had to have. Andy was with me when I spotted it and I said, "This would be a perfect Mother's Day present!" I'm a very good shopper for him! Being named Robin and having a business named The Robin's Nest, I have an affinity for all things nests, feathers, and eggs. The little hanging tag says "Bless Our Nest".
We picked up Mom and Daddy this morning and headed to Williams Eatery & Gathering Place in Yellow Springs, OH. We had a great lunch and then walked around the town a bit. Yellow Springs is a wonderfully eclectic hippy-esh place and I love it! It's always buzzing with people and activity.
We headed back to Mom and Daddy's house and Daddy and Andy went to Lowe's for dirt to mix into the clay soil in their new garden area around the patio and side wall. Lily and I went walking and then had a nice visit with Mom. We posed for a picture and then indulged in an "usie". An "usie" is similar to a "selfie" but involves me and someone else. (Yes, I made that up!)
When Daddy returned, he had to also get in the act. Cute picture of Mom, Daddy, and Lily! Lily's tongue was hanging out! She was pooped from her walk around the neighborhood.
Of course, my boys are hours away in Virginia. Wish I could see them on this special holiday but oh well. I hope they're celebrating with their little ones and making the day special for Eryn and Rachael.
This is a picture of my very first Mother's Day with the boys in 1988. Can you see Andy's English/Korean Dictionary sticking out of his shirt pocket? He wouldn't study the Korean tapes and wordsheets we were given but did carry his little dictionary around. Too funny!
Brian (on the left) and Taylor had been here (in the USA) only one week when Mother's Day occurred in 1988. It was a VERY VERY special Mother's Day for me.
