Rachael, Taylor, and Landen - they were just here for a visit with us mid-July. Shortly after returning to Virginia, they decided to head to Myrtle Beach, SC for a last hurrah as the new baby's due date was August 13th. One quick last trip to see Rachael's grandmother, aunt, mother, etc. before the family of three became four.
Lil' Miss had other ideas, however. Rachael's water broke and baby girl was born the next day! They had no baby things, no car seat, no nothing! Didn't matter - baby was born!
I'm sure it was a little unsettling but Rachael has one of those personalities that just takes things in stride so well. And, when you think about it, it really worked out great. Her mother was there with her and her grandmother was able to see the baby. If the birth had been in Richmond, they would have had to wait to see the baby - especially, her grandmother. Since they hadn't bought the carseat yet, the one they purchased wasn't a duplicate. Some friends ran out and bought some clothes. Lil' Miss was all set!
As soon as Rachael and baby were discharged from the hospital, they visited briefly with her family and then headed back to Virginia. Wonder if Landen was perplexed by the extra passenger on the return trip? His little seat-mate.
Her name is Raleigh and she's adorable! Three pounds smaller than her brother at birth, she's actually wearing Newborn clothes.
Most children get a T-shirt as a souvenir when they go to the beach. Landen got a baby sister!
Welcome, Raleigh! And, congratulations to Rachael, Taylor, and Landen for your new addition. I can hardly wait to meet her in person!
