Wednesday we got snow as promised. It was absolutely beautiful! I heard it came down at 2 inches per hour in some places. We received 6-8 inches overnight.
This snow had super cling-factor. It coated every branch and twig so that each tree looked like a prop in a winter wonderland. It was a serious snowfall - one that covered every single blade of grass.
I've said it before and I'll say it again --- we live in a beautiful area! Especially when it snows.
Depending how I leave my house, I often have to cross the Caesar Creek Dam. When I cross the dam, the
gorge is on one side and the lake on the other. Crossing the dam with those views is always a treat but this week, it was breathtaking.
The view from the dam is wonderful but there's a spot just down the road from us that is truly postcard perfect when it snows. It's just a little bend in the road not 0.2 of a mile from us.
Some people view snow as a dirty four-letter word. I love it. Can't get enough. I'm happiest when the world is covered in white. It is just so peaceful looking. Quiet and calming.
I also love it when it's brisk and crisp outside. Energizes the soul. Puts a pep in my step.
Thoughts turn to warm drinks, bowls of hot soup or chili, piles of blankets, and roaring fires.
Curling up with special knitting projects also comes to mind. I started working on a Clapotis last weekend. I'm almost to the point of dropping stitches. That is so much fun! I'm using one of Blue Heron's Rayon Metallic yarns and will post a picture soon.
I'm gaining on the end of the Rose Garden Rib Baby Blanket. I really like this four-row pattern and will definitely do it again.
Andy has had this week off since he is between jobs. He starts his new on this coming Monday. Since he won't have any sick time and only one day vacation
the whole first year he's employer, he had tons of stuff to get done this week. Dental cleaning and check-up, two other doctor appointments, and a colonoscopy. He also painted and put shelves in one of the guest room closets. Whew! What a week! Almost makes him anxious to return to work! Well, actually, he is anxious to get back to work. My husband, the workaholic!
Tomorrow morning, I'll be in the studio making soap. The hard oils/butters are all measured out for three batches and ready to go. I'll just need to mix my lye and liquid oils for each batch. I think I've decided to make Lavender Mint, HerbEssence, and Orange Peel Patchouli. Then, it will be off to Knitting At Noon.
Here's a picture of Earl Gray and Gracie showing their enthusiasm for the snowy outdoors.
Mother Nature is fickle. She gifts us with this past week's beautiful snowfall and then takes it away! Temps are supposed to be in the 50-60 degree range this weekend.
Sigh.....it was nice while it lasted!

The snow was Beautiful last week. I too enjoyed all the trees and bushes. Our yard was amazing looking and driving down the tree lined streets was so picture perfect. But the area where you live is more picture perfect. Mine has too many houses.

We had a blizzard about 10 days ago with sizable drifts and significant wind. After so many months of drought, we don't care how the moisture comes as long as we get it. However, where we live, the weather is constantly changing. Here's my daughter's FB post from Thursday:
K-2 PE at co-op: gorgeous 75-degree weather with little wind. Kids getting hot and tired and asking for trips to the water fountain. In-between, they'd play in the leftover snow in the shady areas of the playground. Interesting weather we have. :-)
We're expecting highs ranging from 46 to almost 80 this week.

You know I LOVE snow! It was truly postcard perfect! I was outside at 1:00 a.m. taking pictures! LOL! Sounds like Andy had a fun-filled week! Praying that his new job is a great fit!
See you at Noon!

I was born and bred in Indiana so I can't share your love of snow. Watching it from my window is beautiful but to drive or walk in it..let's just say I am ready for Spring and warmer days and watching my flowers grow. Course...then there are the weeds to pull and all that de-heading of old blooms LOL!!!!
