As you know, my mother is here. She is the Queen of Clean, master organizer, alphabetical arranger.
If you open my mother's spice cabinet, you will find that every jar, can, etc. is in alphabetical order.
If you go down into her basement, you'll find extra cereal, canned goods, etc. all logged in on a sheet. As she uses an item, she adjusts her list so her inventory is current.
Well, my mother is here.
Thursday, we had an intervention.
My pantry was the target.
Itwas way past needing one.
Who knew we had so many bottles of wine or bags of chips.
We filled at least 6 large plastic bags of pantry stuff.
Let's just say we threw away anything that expired prior to 2012.
Now, I can actually see ALL the food that's on the shelves. It's wonderful!
I told Mom not to lose her momentum - the basement is next!

I need your Mama in more ways than one. Tell them Happy Holidays for me.

In my case, it's my daughter. She looked at what I brought with me in the move and quickly pointed out that checking dates was unnecessary--if spices were still in metal tins, they were too old to use. We also tossed anything with glued-on price tags. Sometimes, it's just nice to have help.
Merry Christmas!
