Let's take a closer look at this picture.
See that Christmas ornament? The red one?
That is a clear glass ball filled with red eyelash novelty yarn.
Tomorrow, many of you will be hitting the stores in search of bargains.
These ornaments make great gifts for your fiber friends so you might want to stock up on the makings for them.
I have bought dozens of these over the years. They make terrific fast gifts for people in your knitting group or other friends who are into fiber and yarn.
You'll need clear glass Christmas balls, novelty yarn, and a skewer or straw - something to help poke the
yarn through the opening of the ornament. I usually have good luck finding the glass balls at Hobby Lobby.
The ones I have on my tree are all the same as these in the pictures - red. They look great with all the snowmen on the tree. These ornaments are a terrific way to use up yarn scraps and sometimes the most outrageous novelty yarn looks the best as an ornament.
When giving these as gifts, I usually make a tag that reads, "Break Glass If Yarn Emergency".
So, go forth and shop! With these ornaments, you'll be getting a headstart on Christmas gift-giving 2013!

Great idea! I did something similar this year. I play in two handbell choirs. I copied the music we played for the Christmas season, cut it into narrow strips and stuffed it into glass balls along with red, green and gold metalllic filler. Turned out cute and had some meaning behind it. The ladies seemed to like them.
