It's been awhile since my last post. Lots to report.
On October 13th, our older son and his wife celebrated their 5th anniversary. Their wedding day was a gorgeous fall day in Williamsburg, VA. Now, their life is full with work, play, and a precious 1-year old daughter. May they have many more years of celebration.
I attended two one-day shows with my soaps - the Yarn Market in Middletown, OH on 10/14 and the Autumn Fiber Event in Ashland County, OH on 10/20. Both were small shows - one fairly local and the other about two and a half hours away. I enjoyed both - I love meeting new people and sharing my love of handmade soap. Also, like seeing what all the other vendors have to offer.
This past Sunday, Andy and I went with friends to the Ohio Renaissance Festival. This was the 23rd year for the festival and it is held very close to where we live. The tops of the buildings that make up the permanent village can be seen from the highway but we've never attended the event.
It was a beautiful day - perfect weather for the final day of the
eight weekend run. We enjoyed walking around. We attended three of the shows and they were great! We missed the jousting - must see that next time. Andy enjoyed one of the
famed turkey legs.
The costumes were something to behold! Very creative. The festival workers are costumed, of course, but many of the people who attend also get into the act and come dressed up. Lots of animal teeth and tails and beautiful feathers.
We saw the queen and various minstrels. There was a forge, candle and soap shop, lots of jewelry, a glass blower, tarot card readers, etc. Lots to do and see.
On the knitting front - I've been busy teaching knitting classes at Main Street Yarns - beginning, Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf, and the Clouds of Lace Scarf. Personally, I've been knitting washcloths to go with my soap, need to finish the sweater jacket for Miss B and the vest for Landen, and a very simple alpaca shawl. I think I have several other projects stuck away in project bags that are just about ready to come off the needles. Need to get these finished because I have so much more on my to-do list.
On the soap front, there are several new soaps.
Black Linen & Amber that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. The scent is fabulous and I love how the swirl and colors turned out.
Next, a long-time favorite of mine - Ginger Lime. I love this fragrance in cream lotion, too.
And, Black Cherry Bomb. A strong cherry fragrance with gentle burgundy swirls.
Oh, here is Pumpkin Spice! MAN-OH-MAN, this soap smells delicious!
Oranges & Cloves - smells like the holidays are just around the corner!
This weekend, I'll begin soaping Christmas / winter fragrances. It's fun planning what colors and design features to use in new soaps. Snow-Covered Mountaintops, Cranberry Relish, Woodland Ice, etc. I can hardly wait!
