It has been hellish hot here in Ohio. I'm typing this post at 8:21 PM and it is 97 degrees. HOT. HOT. TOO HOT.
At least we have air conditioning and power so no complaints here. I understand some people are still without power from last Friday night's storm. I feel for them. It's just too too hot.
When we were in Richmond last Saturday, Eyrn, Brian, Miss B, Andy, and I had lunch and then walked around Chesterfield Towne Center. That day was very hot, also. There was a police car and an animal control vehicle in the parking lot. I'm guessing that someone
left their pet in the car while they ran into the mall. Even with windows down, it was way too hot to leave an animal in the car. I hope everything turned out okay.
This morning before it got too boiling hot, I worked outside. Watered and watered and watered. Also, deadheaded flowers and cut some to bring inside. I filled two vases and then carried the rest to my neighbor.
Daisies are taking over! I have several different types but the Shastas are multiplying like crazy! I have TONS! This patch at the pond was started from a division from my other bed. I planted them just last year.
If anyone reading lives in the area and wants daisies, contact me if you would like some. Mine definitely need dividing!
In the bed around the birdfeeders, I have five different kinds of coneflowers. I have Pink Poodle, Lime in the Coconut, Hot Papaya, Tiki Torch, Coneflower Maximus, and one I can't remember the name of that I need to get planted. Poor thing is still sitting in the pot because I've run out of room! I would like to have a huge bed of nothing but coneflowers. I love them - the flowers and their names. Here's a great site that lists lots of different varieties.
I have loads of Queen Anne's Lace growing in our messy border. I love this wildflower but have always heard that's it's full of chiggers. I cut a
bunch of it today and no chiggers. It's so delicate.
While I worked in the gardens, Andy mowed grass. We were going to take the boat out tonight but opted to go get ice cream instead. That decision was a winner!

I love daisies, ours are about spent for the season.
Boat ride sounds fun, but ice cream sounds divine.
