I, for one, think the world needs a good celebration. The wedding of Prince William and Catherine should fit the bill rather nicely. Some pomp and circumstance, carriages, and crowns... Yes, I think the world needs an exceedingly happy day.
I remember watching the TV coverage of Prince Charles and Diana where Diana looked a bit like a deer caught in headlights --- so shy, so young, and unbeknownst to her, about to be gobbled up by Prince Charles and Camilla. I remember seeing the coverage of Prince Charles and Diana with their newborn son, William. I also will never forget as I sat up late one night trying to finish a project -- a live broadcast came on the air with pictures of a car crash in a tunnel with the announcement that Princess Diana was dead. I watched in horror and wanted to believe that it was some terrible mistake.
So, I ask again -- are you ready? Main Street Yarns is! Lise, the owner, is from England and the shop is all decked out for the special day! The Union Jack, with a picture of the young couple, is flying about the store and someone has knit Queen Elizabeth and her hubby. One of the Queen's beloved Corgis got a little fiber action, too. Lise knit the darling wedding dress hanging up behind the couple just waiting for Kate to slip it on.
You can knit your own celebration from this terrific book, Knit Your Own Royal Wedding.
Cheers and cheerio to all you birds and blokes! I'll be tuned in to the festivities across the pond and will send up a special wedding prayer that Wills and Kate live happily ever after.
