Color Decisions, Recipe, Etc.

  Andy and I went to Sherwin Williams and Lowe's today.  Tons of colors are running through my head!  I think we should plan the colors for the entire interior of the house while we are doing the little upstairs bathroom so it will look cohesive.  Here are some colors - the shades towards the darker end of the color cards - I am considering.  We will probably paint all the walls white and then get our color from the woodwork (chair rails, window molding, and ceiling molding, and doors).  Four colors I LOVE are khaki green, gold, rust, and tan in different shades. . 

Also, here's a piece of the linoleum that we put in that bathroom.  The linoleum has leaf imprints on it and shades of olive / khaki green and tan on white.  The color in these pictures are not really true but I hope it gives you an idea. 

Do any of you have replacement windows?  If yes, what color - white or almond?

We also looked at exterior paint schemes.  I think we've decided on a white kind of tinted with a little olive, then a deeper olive for the trim, and a black green door.  Hard to explain. 

Here are some garden pictures.  The strip of garden beside Andy's shop and one of the garden's at my studio.  I can hardly stay out there long enough to snap a picture!  The mosquitoes get all over me!  I hate the little buggers!  You can't tell much by these pictures.  My lavender is growing like crazy!  The calla lilies are up and so are the echinacea.  I'll try to take some close-up pictures for you.

Look at what Gracie Pup found in here bowl tonight.  Some kind of HUGE beetle. 

Here's the recipe for that trash I make.  I don't use specific measurements so this is going to sound a little vague.

It's called White Trash and no party's a party without a little White Trash!  Last time I made it, I made one batch with the white chocolate morsels and another batch with the butterscotch morsels.  I liked the butterscotch batch better.  This treat is the PERFECT marriage of salty / sweet. 

I use Quaker Oat Squares, cocktail peanuts, M&M's (you can use the different colors depending on the season - red and green for Christmas, etc.), round or square thin pretzels, and two bags of Nestle's Butterscotch or White Chocolate Morsels.  I pour the Quaker Oat Squares, pretzels, and peanuts in a big bowl.  Then, I melt the morsels carefully in the microwave - if you melt them too long, they'll get hard and burnt smelling.  I glop the melted morsels over the dry mixture and stir gently - be sure to coat all the dry stuff with the melted morsels.  Add more dry stuff if needed.  Then, spread it all out on wax paper.  You can add just about anything to this mixture and it would be delicious - Whoppers, chocolate covered raisins, Reece's Pieces, miniature Oreo's, etc.  Pick things that withstand stirring and won't break all apart.  Enjoy!!

Thanks for the Trash recipe! Chan had told me that you were going to post it after numerous requests. My boys will love it!

We replaced our windows on our house about 18 months ago. We have the same basic ones as Terri - white, double paned, low E, etc. LOVE THEM! My energy bill went down for both summer and winter!

We have replacement window--vinyl, double pane with the dividers, argon, and low-E glass. They have made so much difference in both energy use and comfort, and being able to wash the entire window from the inside is a real plus! Ours are white, but with a red brick house that already had permanent white trim, we really didn't consider anything else.

now did I get this correct? You are going to paint the exterior of the house to match the upstairs bathroom?
Like the colors you are leaning too. You sure have your work cut out for youself. The hardest part is picking out the paint.
My replacement windows are brown, had to pay a pretty penny for them as white is the norm, almond second. It is in our bylaws.
Your gardens are beautiful. With this extra rain we have been getting they are doing better than in the past. Now, my weeds are bigger than my plants!
